The AZURITE atelier: a long oak bench under tall windows, three lamps, mountains beyond the glass

The house

A house of one calibre.

Three benches, one movement, a window on a ridge. AZURITE makes a small number of watches a year, and every one of them the same watch.

Why one

Because one is enough to get right.

A house that makes twelve calibres knows each of them a twelfth as well. We chose the other arithmetic. AZ.01 is the only movement the house has made, and every year it gets a little thinner, a little quieter, a little easier to look into.

The case follows the same rule. Forty millimetres, one shape, three dials, because a dial is the one place where a choice belongs to the wearer and not to us.

Nothing on the watch is hidden. The caseback is glass, the rotor is open, and the front page of this site takes the whole thing apart in your hands. If a part could not stand being seen, we did not make it.

The making

Six stations, one bench at a time.

  1. 01

    Plate

The mainplate is cut, drilled, jewelled, and given its perlage. Two days.

  2. 02

    Train

Barrel, centre, third, fourth, escape. Each wheel set to its depth by hand.

  3. 03

    Balance

The hairspring is pinned, counted, and its stud set. The movement beats for the first time.

  4. 04

    Bridges

Striped, bevelled, polished, screwed down. The rotor last.

  5. 05

    Regulation

Fifteen days in six positions, within four seconds. Then it is cased.

  6. 06

    Number

Engraved on the back. Written in the book. Handed over at a viewing, never posted.

Come and see the benches.

Viewings are at the house or where you are. The atelier is open to owners by appointment.
